Imagine a garden filled with a variety of plants. Each plant has its own unique shape, colour and way of growing. Some plants, like sunflowers, reach high towards the sky while others like ground cover, spreading low and wide. Some bloom brightly, attracting bees and butterflies while others may have more subtle beauty, thriving in the shadows.

In this garden, each plant represents a different way of thinking and processing information. Neurodivergence is like the diversity of plants in this garden; just as each plant contributes to the ecosystem’s overall health and beauty, each neurodivergent mind adds richness to our society.

Some plants may require specific conditions to thrive, like more sunlight or water, just as neurodivergent individuals may benefit from tailored support and understanding. When gardeners (society) recognise and nurture the unique needs of each plant, the entire garden flourishes, creating a vibrant and balanced environment.

This metaphor highlights that diversity in thought and cognition is not only normal but essential for a thriving community, much like a diverse garden is vital for a healthy ecosystem.
